Michael Kors Window Makeover

Understanding brand history and new objectives to create compelling window display proposals.
Key Skills: Visual Merchandising, Brand Identity, Graphic Design, Prototyping

Overview:

For this project Michael Kors selected a team of 10 individuals to create and develop window display proposals that define the new “Jet Set” in store experience. This program consisted of attending biweekly evening meetings with the store design and visual merchandising teams to learn the fundamentals of visual merchandising as well as Michael Kors design objectives.

Process:

Designing a window display proposal for Michael Kors required a multifaceted perspective. It required a thorough understanding of prop styling in order to create something that grabs attention while still keeping the garments at the center of focus. In addition, it required extensive research into the history of Michael Kors brand identity in order to develop a display that was innovative and fresh while still remaining true to Michael Kors core design principles.

Outcome:

The window concept I designed aimed to rekindle the exhilaration of the golden age of travel experiences, with vintage and reused backdrops and travel props contrasting the new collections. It features MK luggage spilling open to reveal the new collection, evoking wonder and excitement. As well as MK bags floating amidst clouds adorned with postage stamped signifying their global reach. This proposal aimed to capture the essence of Michael Kors' heritage and the thrill of travel's beginnings in a cohesive and inviting display. My proposal was met with great enthusiasm by the store design and VM team as I was selected as a finalist.
